The Mandates - "In The Back Of Your Heart" LP

The Mandates is a fabulous Calgary based rock'n'roll outfit including BRADY: guitar, vocals/ MATT: guitar, vocals /JIMMY - bass /WARREN - drums.

Fast rhythms and sweet melodies is what defines the electrified pop/punk/glam of the quartet that has come up with its Sophomore full length effort, "In The Back Of Your Heart" a while ago on TAKEN BY SURPRISE records.

On their new album, The Mandates blast through 11 new tracks of fresh-sounding, exhuberant rock and roll that sounds like it's being played for the fun of it.

From the first chords of the opening track "Something Wrong" till the last notes of "I got my eyes (in the back of your mind)" it is obvious that the endlessly gigging has made the band tighter than ever and The Mandates have become an unstoppable rock and roll machine churning out an impressive collection of instant hits that will appeal to every fan of The Exploding Hearts, The Dead Boys, The Ramones or The Boys!

BRAM TCHAIKOVSKY - THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING

BRAM TCHAIKOVSKY - THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING
In Flac - Scans are included

1 Let's Dance
2 Mr. President
3 Missfortune
4 Hollywood Nightmare
5 Pressure
6 The Russians Are Coming
7 Heartache
8 Letter From The U.S.A.
9 Can't Give You Reasons
10 Jeux Sans Frontires (Game With No Rules)
11 New York Paranoia

Due to the cold war of the time, the original title had to be changed to "Pressure" when it was released in the USA. The track list was also modified and a new artwork elaborated.  Production wise, this record is better that "Strange Man, Changed Man", unfortunately as far as the songwriting is concerned, it's a bit of a disappointment though. Got this a while back from PPC, so all the credit goes to Angelo.

They released one of the greatest LP's of the 1990's, "Go Berserk", plus 2 singles, & 1 e.p. This remastered 2-disc set collects all their releases plus an incredibly rare live show on disc 2. THE VIKINGS only played live maybe a dozen times! THE VIKINGS do it all! Everything from the power-pop boldness of "Tonight", the raunch of "Rock All", to the crudeness of "Savage".

James Leg - Below The Belt out on September 4th via Alive Naturalsound Records.

John Wesley Myers, aka James Leg, is not exactly your average singer. As a matter of fact, he likes to describe himself as a "growler, a shouter, a composer, and a Fender Rhodes finger-fucker".

The son of a Texas preacher, raised in the South on gospel music, James Leg (Black Diamond Heavies, The Immortal Lee County Killers, Cut In The Hill Gang) has cut his sophomore solo album , the aptly titled "Below The Belt", at Masonic Sounds Studio in Dayton, Kentucky. The album was mixed by renowned producer/engineer Jim Diamond at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit.

The album opens with "Dirty South" a mean rocker driven by a menacing organ riff. "Casa de Fuego" is a great follow up with mariachi like horns and its tequila flavoured atmosphere."Up Above My Head" is a soulful gospel rendition of Sister Rosetta Tharpe's song.

And this track, more than any other, makes you wonder if Leg's music greatly reflects his torments being torn apart between his religious upbringing and the "devil's music" (i.e. rock'n'roll) he is now playing and preaching to the masses.

The devil's music is still ALIVE and James leg is its ultimate preacher. The one who's going to hit you where it hurts: "Below The Belt"

James Leg's Below The Belt will be released on limited vinyl, CD and digital formats on September 4th via Alive Naturalsound Records.

6. Girl Of My Dreams
7. Nobody Knows
8. Lady From the U.S.A.
9. I'm a Believer

11. Turn On the Light

Bram Tchaikovsky (Peter Bramall) left the Motors to form his own band, releasing this great debut album in 1979. "Girl Of My Dreams" was the hit, but just about every track is wonderful. Aside from the hit, other outstanding tracks include "Lady From The USA", "I'm The One That's Leaving", "Lonely Dancer", my personal favorite "Sarah Smiles", and the title track. This is one of the great albums from the heyday of power pop. The mix of upbeat and slower tunes is especially effective. After this, Bram made 2 more albums but with his commercial fortunes falling he retired from the music biz, and as far as I know he hasn't been heard from since. This CD is apparently out of print and selling for insane prices!

This version is the ultimate 2CD deluxe edition of the album. It features both the original mono version plus the original 1966 stereo mix in band's intended running order, the latter being different to the alternative stereo version used in the award-winning box set 'Sign of the Three Eyed Men'. The set also includes five hitherto unreleased alternative versions which are the producer/engineer Bob Sullivan's original stereo studio mixes. The recordings were remastered and remixed in 2007 by the original producer Walt Andrus. `The fearless trailblazers of psychedelia and one of the most kick-ass rock bands ever... For two or so years they burned with a flame so fierce that 40 years on they still remain an inspiration'

The Last Killers - Dangerous

Since the demise of The Jim Jones Revue, the best thing in rock'n'roll has come from Cesena, Italy, and is called The Last Killers! The quartet (MATTEO ESPANADA - vox & guitars;
DANI BAJO - vox & bass; THE MAN - keyboards, percussions & vox; Mr. PINNA - drums, percussions) has recently released its latest full length intitled "Dangerous" and this is exactly what it is all about: Danger is something rock'n'roll is cruelly missing these days! Nowadays all the bands want to play it safe. But not the Last Killers. They exhale danger and they have a killer fuzz sound just about to blow your brains out.

Here you have it all rolled in one: Little Richard ("Oh my Soul"), The Sonics ("She's got it") , The Stooges, The MC5 ("Revolution now"). But don't get me wrong, The last Killers are not about revival! It's obvious they take their influences from the 50's or the 60's but they come up with a very fresh and today sound .

Over the last couple of years, the band has been touring Europe several times : Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain and the United Kingdom, mostly in the r'n'r underground club circuit but also at main festivals such as Cosmic Trip, Festival beat, Drakula fest, and so on. They also opened for bands such as Thee Oh Sees, The Fleshtones, Lords of Altamont, Cynics or The Fuzztones....

This is an absolute MUST BUY for every rock'n'roll music fan!
