A6 The Return Of The Leather Kings

B5 Nothing's Gonna Bring Me Down
The Fleshtones opted to produce themselves (with the help of James A. Ball) their fourth studio album, Fleshtones Vs. Reality, and it turned out to be an inspired choice; it's one of the best-sounding Fleshtones records ever, bright and lively, with the wild party undertow they so dearly love flowing through nearly every track and the mid-60's ambience unencumbered by unnecessary studio murk. Peter Zaremba is in inspired voice (and his keyboards fit like a glove), Keith Streng's guitar work is near the top of his game, and the rest of the band sounds locked, loaded, and ready to wail.

"B-Sides The Beatles", is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2007 release, "Meet The Smithereens." The album was released on September 2, 2008. The album includes some very special surprises for dedicated Beatles fanatics. For "B-Sides The Beatles," Andy White, who in 1962 played drums on The Beatles' original version of "P.S. I Love You," reprises his role as surrogate stickman for The Smithereens in 2008. The September 11, 1962 session that produced "Love Me Do" and its B-side "P.S. I Love You" featured session drummer White, with the newly recruited Ringo Starr relegated to tambourine and maracas duties. Upon release in America, the A-side shot to #1, and the B-side made the top-10 as well.

THE GHETTO WAYS I always wanted you

THE GHETTO WAYS I always wanted you
WAV - Covers are included
01 The Party Don
02 One Thousand Eyes
03 All the Time
04 Not 'cos I'm Bored
05 Funny Style
06 I Always Wanted You
07 Damn the Dawn
08 The Feel and the Love
09 Can You Feel It
10 Big Bad Wolf

According to some rumors on the net, it seems the band called it a day. Damn shame because this album was certainly their best offering: the Ghetto ways moved away a little bit from their early trash-attitude, concentrating more on real catchy and soulful tunes, packed with a high level of Punkrock-energy. This record has it all: that same stomping beat, rumbling bass, distorted rock guitar, and lots of cheering and howling. Yeehah

11. Lana Lee
12. Don't Start Cryin' Now
13. Goodnight Alcatraz

This is an album i've wanted to do for a long time. Cut out all the crap and go for the throat! Just rock until your sideburns fall off and get it all down on tape. We've left in all the rough edges with no apologies to audiophiles or L.A.'s clean-cut studio boys.
I wouldn't exactly call this rockabilly. San Fransisco (my hometown) is pretty hilly, but not very billy. However, my ears first got destroyed at a very early age by the masterful thumpin' of Messrs. Perkins, Cochran,Berry, Lewis and The King himself, of course, so you might say that my roots twang loudely.
This record features new originals, old originals (from my GROOVIES era), oldies (Coasters, Orbison, Wynonie Harris, etc.), but there's not one ballad on the record. Nothing that moves at less than full-tilt. So if you want to slow dance in tight with your squeeze, you should buy a Barry Manilow record and pass on this one.
I assembled a group of the hottest rockers i know to perpetrate this assault. All good friends and boppers true. We had a genuine ball and got truly fractured cutting these sides. I hope the grooves on the record will un-leash the groove unto you and get your body jumpin' and jerkin' out of control. This is, after all, a dance album. Not one word of meaningful profundity leaps from my lips on these tunes.

2. Tojo
3. Leilani
4. Arthur
5. Dig It Up
6. Turn On, (Let's All)

9. Zanzibar
10. I Was a Kamikaze Pilot
11. My Girl
12. Lelani, Pt. 2
13. Be My Guru
14. Hoodoo You Love(live)
Stoneage Romeos was iconic Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus' first album (released 1984) and saw them receive record sales to complement their already strong reputation for live performances. The album name is from a Three Stooges short film. With radio and television support for their third single "My Girl" (1983) (complete with a film clip about a greyhound of the same name), the band's following grew. The album's other singles were - "Leilani" (1982), "Tojo" (1983), and "I Want You Back" (1984). Later in July 1985 they took the honours in the 'Best Debut Album' category at the 1984 Countdown Awards.

The Australian LP sported a cartoonish nod to the 1966 caveman flick One Million Years B.C., all menacing dinosaurs and Day-Glo colors (designed by Yanni Stumbles); whilst in America, consumers got a stylized sleeve featuring arty renditions of the giant reptiles.

Many thanx to Toxxy for this great contribution!

Roky Erickson and The Aliens - The Evil One

Roky Erickson and The Aliens - The Evil One
@ 320 kbps - Covers are included
1. Two Headed Dog (Red Temple Prayer)
2. I Think of Demons
3. Creature with the Atom Brain
4. The Wind and More
5. Don't Shake Me Lucifer
6. Bloody Hammer
7. Stand for the Fire Demon
8. Cluck Your Fingers Applauding the Play
9. If You Have Ghosts
10. I Walked With a Zombie
11. Night of the Vampire
12. It's a Cold Night for Alligators
13. Mine Mine Mind
14. Sputnick
15. White Faces
There are many Roky Erickson albums, but The Evil One originally released by CBS Records in Europe in 1980 was the first of them and, many would say the best. Every song is memorable, even from the first listen. From the unnerving opening riff of "Two Headed Dog" to the loud pleas of "Mine Mine Mind", this disc never bores. The guitar playing and backing band are superb and fit the material like a glove. The lyrics cover everything from Satan to zombies and are delivered with Roky's best vocal performance ever. And Roky sounds like he believes every word he sings.

Dr. Feelgood - Be Seeing You [Japan re-issue]

Dr. Feelgood - Be Seeing You [Japan re-issue]
@ 320 kbps - Covers are included
1. Ninety Nine And A Half (Won't Do)
2. She's A Wind Up
3. I Thought I Had It Made
4. I Don't Wanna Know
5. That's It I Quit
6. As Long As The Price Is Right
7. Hi Rise
8. My Buddy Buddy Friends
9. Baby Jane
10. The blues Had A Baby And They Named It Rock 'n' Roll
11. Looking Back
12. Sixty Minutes
The Nick Lowe-produced Be Seeing You, WAS Dr. Feelgood's first post-Wilko Johnson effort and featured the debut of John Mayo. Wilko is one of my favourite guitarists - no one sounds like him (what are pretty simple riffs sound fantastic the way he attacks the strings and his style is almost inimitable). But his replacement John 'Gypie' Mayo is a more accomplished player - and his playing here is superb. This album is as good as Down by the Jetty - not as innovative maybe, but 31 mins of unsurpassed , stripped-down, high energy rhythm and blues. There's only really one track I'm a bit undecided about - Mayo's instrumental Hi Rise.

Many thanx to Toxxy for this great contribution!

Alex Chilton - 1970

Alex Chilton - 1970
@ 320 kbps - Covers are included
1. Come On Honey
2. I Can Dig It
3. Just To See You
4. Free Again
5. Something Deep Inside
6. All I Really Want Is Money
7. I Wish I Could Meet Elvis
8. The Happy Song
9. Every Day As We Grow Closer
10. The EMI Song (Smile For Me)
11. Jumpin' Jack Flash
12. Funky National
13. Sugar Sugar/I Got A Feeling (Heavy Medley)
This album features a good collection of Alex originals and covers that bridge the gap between his life musically between The Box Tops and Big Star. Sure these recordings at times are raw, but they do provide insight into Alex's head at the time and where he was headed as a musician. Ironically this is the first recording to feature "Free Again" which also pops up later on Bachs Bottom. It's definitely an album worth having in your collection if you have an interest in Alex's younger years, and want to see where the seeds of his pre-Big Star musicianship really began.

Many thanx to Toxxy for this great contribution!
