12 She Could Start A Riot
Long awaited new album by the buzz-loving, NJ garage rock icons. The trio’s first slab in about a decade and after the very disappointing "The return of rock" features the band’s typical high-energy rock ’n’ snot! 12 brilliant tracks who find the band in great shape and kickin' major ass. The former DEVIL DOGS Mighty Joe VINCENT is sitting behind the drum kit and this guy can hold a steady backbeat. This is insanely pumped straight-ahead no-frills rock that swoops down on you , pimps slaps you around the living room for 35 minutes , and leaves you a shattered heap on the floor. Good ol' fashioned rock and roll , turn up the amps , kick it up and annoy the neighbours. For those of us who remember great rock n' roll , it's good these boys are finally back in town! Get this by all means.

Forty years prior to May 2009, The Who changed the face of rock music forever with their release of the classic rock opera TOMMY - music that inspired and energized generations of music fans. Among those are The Smithereens, power-pop standard bearers themselves who continue to carry the torch for great melodies, close harmonies and driving beats. On the heels of their acclaimed re-workings of the early Beatles (MEET THE SMITHEREENS, THE BEATLES: THE B-SIDES), The Smithereens unleash their fresh and brash interpretive style on Pete Townshend's immortal epic, offering a new way of hearing these beloved songs that isn't the slavish imitation of a cover band, but casts a new light of interpretation from a band that has made its own impact on the canon of high-energy rock and roll. THE SMITHEREENS PLAY TOMMY is an anniversary present no lover of classic rock will want to miss!

14. The Mood I'm In
With a dab more arrogance and perhaps a touch more vocal assertiveness on Lewis' part, there'd be no disputing this LP's place on the shelf next to Dr. Feelgood and the first J. Geils Band LP. Lewis (who worked with the Feelgoods very early on and joined up with guitarist Wilko Johnson after this solo excursion) lacks no authority on blues harp, handily living up to the aspiration announced in the title. Gavin Povey (of the Edge and other groups) adds pianistic lubrication to a program that includes astute covers as well as sharp originals. [Jim Green - Trouser press]

11. I'm A Hog For You Baby
12. Checkin' Up On My Baby
13. Roxette

Stupidity captures the relentless, hard-driving energy of Dr. Feelgood at their peak. Comprised of recordings taken from 1975 tours, the music is presented raw and without overdubs, making it clear that the dynamic friction between guitarist Wilko Johnson and vocalist Lee Brilleaux could propel the band toward greatness. These unvarnished and exciting performances reveal the Johnson originals She Does It Right and All Through the City as rock & roll classics.

Many thanx to Toxxy for this great contribution!

17. Roxette (Live)
2009 collection from the British guitarist. When Dr. Feelgood burst on the UK scene in 1975 with their energetic R&B, they symbolised a return to the basics and away from the bloated pomposity Rock had become. After four albums, guitarist and songwriter Wilko Johnson left over musical differences, and continued with his own band and his remarkable choppy rhythm/lead Blues style. Albums like Ice On The Motorway, Solid Senders and Barbed Wire Blues plus regular worldwide touring with his excellent rhythm section of Blockheads Norman Watt-Roy and Monti, have kept Wilko's reputation as one of the hottest and renowned R&B guitarists intact.
