Last Battle of the bands for this summer

The choice is yours AGAIN:

YOU will have to choose the next post:

On my left : The Waldos - Rent Party. Walter Lure and friends are an unstoppable rock'n'roll machine produced by Andy SHERNOFF, our favorite dictator.

On my right : The Star Spangles - Bazooka - Could have been the new Heartbreakers if only they had not exploded prematurely. Produced by Daniel REY.

The Woggles - Tempo Tantrum

The Woggles - Tempo Tantrum
In wav - Scans are included

Tempo Tantrum
Los Angeles No Niseimaturi
The Elbow Twist
Sweet Tea
On The Move
The Kingdom Of Nye
Theme From Vindicators
Flash Flood
Mr. Peppermint Man
El Toro

LA garage revivalists The Woggles make one hell of an instrumental band. The majority of tracks here are covers but they bring a new twist to even familiar numbers like The Monkees' 'Valleri' and Dick Dale's 'Mr Peppermint Man', and others such as 'Los Angeles No Niseimaturi' and 'Elbow Twist' rock like The Ventures on speed. No-one's done anything this good since a long time.

Special thanks to Joey R.A.MONE for this way cool contribution

Here I Come and Other Hits collects Fall-Outs recordings from 1986-1992 (proving that the band was a bit ahead of its time on the modern garage scene) -- given the wide span of material to choose from, the record winds up with a level of consistency that's far higher than any of the band's studio releases. Here I Come... is also more raw and adrenalized than the band's later releases -- and, given the Fall-Outs wild and bluesy garage sound, this might seem like a good thing -- but later releases like the band's self-titled album actually manage to lend traces of depth and sophistication to this sound that's slightly preferable.

THE ABOVE's New LP "Waterbury Street"

For those of you who have spent the last couple of years in outer space, a little reminder might be useful: THE ABOVE is an amazing (and i mean AMAZING) band from Brooklyn, New York, including David Alan Horowitz - vocals, guitars, harmonica, mellotron; Frank Caira - bass guitar, vocals; Matt Marando - guitar, vocals, piano, tanpura and Jason Trygstad - drums, percussion, vocals, guitar.

This four-piece is massively influenced by the sounds of British-era R&B,  (think KINKS, the WHO, The Birds, The CREATION....) and know how to write memorable and exciting songs.

THE ABOVE's New LP "Waterbury Street" out now on Teen Sound Records!! One great song after another, this is definitely a must buy for all the MODS or FREAKBEAT fans.

Purchase the vinyl version of this record at (North American customers) & (International customers)

You can see THE ABOVE live on 08/16/2014 (i.e in less than a week away) at Hank's Saloon in Brooklyn, with also Muck and The Mires, The Stents, and Quitty and The Don'ts. 8PM, $8!

THE RICKY C QUARTET - Recent Affairs

Formed in 2011 and including Ricky C on vocals, Joe the Dog on guitar/b vocals, Sam Hall on bass and Jimmy Jones on drums/b vocals, THE RICKY C QUARTET is without any doubt one of the best and ballsiest rock'n'roll bands in the U.K.

They confess they started the band based on a mutual love for Slaughter and the Dogs and Radio Birdman, but the guitar playing also brings back flashes of Johnny Thunders and the heartbreakers and a healthy dose of pub rock influences.

But what really sets these fine gentlemen apart from the rest, is that they damn know how to write catchy tunes filled with hooks ("Back to Melbourne", "Rock the boat", the latest single, "I miss you").

This is definitely one of the top ten records of this year.

Move your lazy asses over to
and get yourself a copy of this fantastic record that comes with a poster/ lyric sheet and a downloadcode!

And if you feel like a big spender, you can go for the Ricky C Quartet - limited Total Pack that includes  the Recent Affairs LP ( in white vinyl),   the I Miss You EP (in  splatter vinyl) and a T-Shirt (white).

While you're at it, check out the other great stuff the nice people at WANDA RECORDS have in store and in particular The Gaggers,  - Blame You.

The Gaggers were formed in 2009 by Terminal Gagger on lead vocals and bass (The Botox Rats, Shanghai Wires, Disco Lepers) and Dagger Gagger on guitar and vocals (The Blow-Outs, The Seminals, The Hateful) with Busy Signal on drums. Razor sharp punk rock that will damage your head as they say. Comes in a gatefold cover with a poster + sticker and a downloadcode.

Part based on the club listings of the early 70s and part based on the club listings of today, this compilation has the dance floor groovers with a bit of strum, a bit of stomp, and a whole lotta Glam. You’ve probably never heard of any of the artists, but those collecting the Lipsmackin’ series appear to be used to that now. In fact as with one recent review of Volume 5 (Bubble Pop) they get a bit miffed if any of the tracks were a hit! . Some acts do have interesting links, Jimmy Jukebox is that Nut Rocker Kim Fowley, Shout It Out was written and produced by John Springate of the Glitter Band, Little Bit O’Soul was /is a 60’s Northern Soul classic by the Music Explosion given the glam treatment, the Jets keyboard player was also in Cockney Rebel, Good Time Fanny was written and produced by Andy Scott of the Sweet. All meat and drink to the collector. Oh and BOOBS actually was the name of an early 70s discotheque, in south London and Bristol (appropriately) at least, probably elsewhere too.
