Recorded September 27, 28, and 29th, 1976, at the dawn of the "new wave," important and historic live recordings of some of the scenemakers live on within these grooves. Far from a definitive document but you will find classic Willie Alexander after his stint with the Velvet Underground and before his MCA deal. Along with Willie Loco there is very early DMZ, so early that the drummer is future member of The Cars, David Robinson, as well as an early, vintage version of Richard Nolan's vital band Third Rail. This is the only place where you can find the original Susan with guitarists Tom Dickie and John Kalishes -- years before Joan Jett guitarist Ricky Bird replaced Kalishes, and decades before John Kalishes joined the late Ben Orr of the Cars in solo projects in the 1990s. The rock history lesson is important to understand the impact of not only the musicians on this album, but the influence of the nightclub which spawned Live at the Rat. Willie Alexander's manic "Pup Tune" is perhaps the most concise representation of the Rat sound -- it is grunge, it is deranged, it is a no-holds barred performance which has been re-released on best-of compilations and treasured over the years as a true musical gem. Of the 19 tracks, Willie Alexander is the only artist who gets three cuts: "At the Rat," the club's anthem; the aforementioned tribute to Ronnie Spector that is "Pup Tune"; and a live version of the original Garage Records 45 which began this new phase of his career, his ode to "Kerouac." Marc Thor, a legendary performer who never got a full album out, utilizes members of Thundertrain, DMZ, the Boize, and Third Rail for his "Circling L.A.," co-written by scenemaker Nola Rezzo. Eventual Roulette recording artist Sass do "Rocking in the USA," and, like Susan, and even Thundertrain, bring a more mainstream sound to the underground rock represented by the Boize, Third Rail, DMZ, the Infliktors, and the Real Kids. The Real Kids add "Who Needs You" and "Better Be Good" to the party, while this early Mono Mann phase has his "Ball Me Out" and "Boy From Nowhere" titles. Thundertrain crackle with "I'm So Excited" and "I Gotta Rock," Mach Bell's growl and stage antics the thing that made this otherwise suburban band an essential part of this scene. ~ Joe Viglione, Rovi

The Crazy Squeeze

The Crazy Squeeze from Hollywood, CA, is a super group featuring Stitches guitar player Johnny Witmer (on guitar & vocals), original Stitches drummer Johnny Sleeper (drums & vocals), Frankie Delmane from The Teenage Frames (guitar & vocals) and Dat Ngo (ex-Super Bees) in on bass.

This league of fine gentleman have come together to conquer the world with their own brand of vintage glam rollin’ punk.

Their high-energy songs are filled with hooks, sing-along vocals, ripping rock'n'roll guitars and an unmissable backbeat. If you need name dropping, think of The BOYS, SLADE, Johnny THUNDERS and The Heartbreakers or even T.REX

Their long awaited debut full length CD includes a bonus track (not available on the vinyl LP) a brilliant cover of "Terminal Love" featuring none other than Honest John Plain himself, on lead guitar.

This record is nothing short on wild guitar riffs, brilliant drumming, strong melodies and singalong vocals.

If you like your rock'n'roll loud and mercyless, The Derellas' amazing brand of Sleazy punk 'n' roll music will keep your head spinning and your feet stomping for weeks! Fans of the Pistols, Sweet, Slade, The Ramones, The Glitter band or The New York Dolls this is gonna be right up your alley.

After having been around Freddy Lynxx for a long time, Kevin K, from New York has decided to explore the French network again and get the very experienced REAL KOOL KATS as a backing band. Whereas "Kiss Of Death" was considered as their best release so far, "Perfect Sin" (3rd album of the band) seems to be even more achieved and explores more musical fields than before. If the Stooges, Ramones and Johnny Thunders(Kevin's solos are always a real treat) influences as well as this incredible ability to write harrowing ballads ("Sometime"-an introspective song- is a real jewel) are still the band's trademark, we found out on this new album some unprecedented incursion in the country music universe with "Hanging On The Eightball", some tough power pop on "LXXS" (a real hit), but also quieter atmospheres and some saxophone parts that could have been on Alison Gordy's "Blonde & Blue".

Girl Trouble had been around for a decade by the time it released New American Shame, the band's third -- and most raucous -- full-length recording. The members of the Tacoma quartet have never made any secret of their pride in the town that also gave birth to musical forefathers the Sonics and the Wailers. "My Hometown," their ode to Seattle's sister city, sets the tone for the rest of the album -- loud, fast, and with a "backbeat you can't lose".

The Outta Sites - Shake All Night

Chris “Sugarballs” Sprague, the fella behind the skins for hotshots like Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-fonics, Big Sandy, and Los Straitjackets is also guitar player, singer and driving force behind The Outta Sites! Other members are Zach Simpson, bass player, Jason Eoff, keyboard player, and drummer Pete Curry, who incidentally plays bass with the Straitjackets.

Their thrilling debut album, Shake All Night, was released last year on Spinout Records and it's totally amazing.

One potential hit after another: “Shake All Night” “One Track Mind” “Jezebel” “What a Girl Can’t Do” “Is It True” “Martian Jive” all featuring melodic harmonies, Twangy Guitar, groovy Organ, Bass and a great Back Beat.

If you dig the 1960's British Invasion Rock and Roll! (The Beatles, The Dave Clark Five) or The Ventures, The Knickerbockers, The Kingsmen, this platter is absolutely up you alley.

The band has already played around the states and you will be able to see them live at The New England Shake Up in September.

As Deke Dickerson put it: The Outta Sites are Out Of Sight, man! Do yourself a favor and get it here :

7.Trouble in Paradise

Formed in 2006, the BOOZE has already released three incredible albums, "Easybeats in modern time'', ''Straight, No Chaser" and ''Rebirth of the Cool''. This is a compilation of sorts from all three of them.
It's that perfect mixture of wild ravin' r'n'b, classic 60's pop, blues, soul, garage and mod beat that makes those misfit young folks so special.
Genuinely disillusioned with the overall modern state of rock 'n' roll, they create music that speaks their language. And if that language is from forty-five-odd years ago, so be it. The band offers heartbroken lyrics set to upbeat music, with drummer Shane Human peppering the songs with lively handclaps or a tambourine for percussive decoration. Their songs are catchy as hell and full of smooth guitar tones and pretty harmonies. Chad Tolliver's scratchy, vocals slightly modernize the tone, but the melodic riffs from guitarists Brian Roberts and Randy Michael bring it straight back to the '60s.
Picture yourself at The Marquee Club in the early sixties listening to the STONES and Bo Diddley and that's what you get with THE BOOZE!

Milk 'N' Cookies was formed in early 1973, when Ian North, an aspiring artist and musician from Woodmere, NY, his best friend, bass player Jay Weis, and a drummer named Mike Ruiz recruited reluctant vocalist Justin Strauss to join them in a band.

Milk 'N' Cookies quickly found an audience, playing at Long Island and New York bars, clubs, and high school dances. They started to promote a demo tape, which eventually made its way to John Hewlett, the manager of the band Sparks. During this time, Weis left the band and was replaced by Sal Maida, a bass player who'd previously played with Roxy Music. Hewlett was instrumental in getting Milk 'N' Cookies into the studio, and in 1974 they went to England to begin recording with producer Muff Winwood, who'd recently worked with Sparks. The self named album, recorded for Island Records had upbeat, catchy songs with titles like,"Little, Lost And Innocent", "We Go On Dancing" and "Rabbits Make Love".Island released a single, "Little, Lost And Innocent" backed with "Good Friends", but when it failed to chart, the release of the album was shelved.
