Graham Day and The Forefathers - Good Things

Graham Day and The Forefathers - Good Things

Graham Day, Allan Crockford and Wolf Howard have been blasting out their muscular version of “Medway garage-rock” in various combinations over a period of more than 30 years, releasing dozens of albums between them. Graham and Allan were in The Prisoners (1982-86), before forming The Prime Movers with Wolf in 1988, releasing three albums before they split in 1993. The trio was re-united in 1999 as The Solarflares, releasing another five albums until once again calling it a day in 2004.

The three re-united as a live band in 2013. The Forefathers formed around the idea that the time was right for rifling through the “Graham Day Songbook” and delivering a “best of...” set: stripped down live versions of the best of The Prisoners, The Prime Movers, The Solarflares and Graham's most recent band, The Gaolers. One might think that The Forefathers are essentially a “tribute act” – a tribute to themselves and their shared musical history. If that is true, they are the purest and best tribute act in existence – no one delivers a Graham Day song like Graham Day, Allan Crockford and Wolf Howard.

After a debut single on State Records, here’s the album. "Good Things" packs six Solarflares’ tunes, three from The Prisoners, two from The Gaolers and one from The Prime Movers. Recorded in the back room of a mate’s print shop, using a couple of old mics, the backing tracks were bashed out in one take, raw ’n’ alive.

The vinyl, in glorious MONO, comes with a CD and a digital download. All formats for just one purchase!

Farewell Patrick!

Dig It ! nous adresse le message suivant:

Bonjour

THE CRY! "Dangerous game, US Edition"

THE CRY! "Dangerous game, US Edition"

The CRY! Is a five-piece Rock 'n' Roll band from Portland,  Oregon, founded in 2011, that manages to re-craft the 2 min. pop song for a new generation. The CRY! effortlessly merges 50's style vocal harmonies, the jangle of 60's pop hooks and the glam-rock attitude of the 70's with the raw punkish street emotions.

On March 1st, 2014 the CRY! released their 2nd studio LP "Dangerous Game" in Europe and Asia. Even before it's release the highly anticipated album has earned high-praise within the power-pop community and has garnered dozens of critical reviews.

In Oct. 2014 “Dangerous Game: US Edition” was released as the band’s first american offering. The record features 13 previously released tracks and one exclusive track: “Last Thing That I do.”

14 tracks of 100% pure Rock’N'Roll. If you're looking for 70’s power pop and punk combined with an authentic glam sound, this little gem is going to make your head spin and your feet stomping for weeks. All killers and no fillers, hooks a plenty and top-notch vocals, this is definitely in my top ten of 2014.

Ming City Rockers

Ever heard of Immingham, a dock town near Hull and Grimsby, nicknamed Ming and known only for its petrochemical plant ?

Obviously it seems there isn’t much to do in ‘Ming’,  so four young musicians -Clancy Jones-Rhythm Guitar/vocals/harmonica, Morely Adams-Lead Guitar/backing vocals, Doc Ashton-Drums, Jakki Walsh-bass - decided to start a band aptly going by the name of Ming City Rockers instead of just sit around drinking and being cynical.

Ming City Rockers' debut and self-titled studio album was released on 15 September 2014 by the Mad Monkey label.

Half a hour of mayhem delivered at blistering speed. It’s an album infused with the spirit of The GODFATHERS, Link Wray and the delta blues, brimming with wit, desperation, defiance and bite and wrestling under the yoke of many masters: booze and narcotics (‘Get Out Of Your Head’), long-gone lovers (‘Rosetta’, ‘Twist It’), working-class nihilism (‘I Wanna Get Out Of Here…’, ‘I Don’t Like You’ and ‘You Ain’t No Friend Of Mine’) and Belzebub himself in their blistering, irreverent cover of Robert Johnson’s ‘Crossroads’.

Favorite tracks : I wanna get out of here but I can’t take you anywhere -  Twist it  - Rosetta

Here I Come and Other Hits collects Fall-Outs recordings from 1986-1992 (proving that the band was a bit ahead of its time on the modern garage scene) -- given the wide span of material to choose from, the record winds up with a level of consistency that's far higher than any of the band's studio releases. Here I Come... is also more raw and adrenalized than the band's later releases -- and, given the Fall-Outs wild and bluesy garage sound, this might seem like a good thing -- but later releases like the band's self-titled album actually manage to lend traces of depth and sophistication to this sound that's slightly preferable.
