3 He Who Waits
4 Goin' Back
5 Between The Lines
6 I'll Cry Alone
7 Slow Death
A one-off collaboration with former Flamin Groovies singer/guitarist Chris Wilson resulted in the seven-song Chris Wilson and the Sneetches: three Groovies tunes ("Between the Lines," "I'll Cry Alone" and "Slow Death") performed live at the DNA Lounge (Groovies alumnus Roy Loney joins in on "Slow Death"), full-band versions of cuts from Wilson's early '90s acoustic album, Random Centuries, and a nice, 12-string-drenched version of Goffin/King's "Goin' Back."

Garage-tinged power pop is a global concern, not just limited to American genre heavies like Gentleman Jesse. France’s Crusaders Of Love put out an overlooked, solid LP on Douchemaster back in 2010, and "Take It Easy…But Take It", " is the follow-up.

THE WILLOWZ
Los Angeles’ The Willowz formed in 2002. Their latest album, "Everyone" released in 2009, is a strong statement of musical evolution. While staying true to their no-strings-attached soul infused garage rock sound, the band has incorporated stronger crafted pop hooks than ever before. "I Know" rides the waves between garage rock vigor and an undeniably addictive, anthemic chorus. "Way It Seems" highlights lead vocalist Richie James Follin’s incredible range as his falsetto accompanies the always tempo changing song, making it stand out as an original track that can’t be qualified as either fast paced nor a ballad, but rather manages to be both. Personnal favorite tracks are : "Repetition" and "Twenty five".

The Breadmakers have been playin' their sleazy brand of swingin' Louisiana swamp pop and garage trash around hometown Melbourne, Europe, the States and Japan for close to twenty years. The Night of the Cobra is their first release for 10 years, and features a selection of their favorite tunes from past releases, and six previously unrecorded tracks, all put down by the current lineup in the Cobra Bar, upstairs at Melbourne's rockin'est venue, The Tote. So get this picture...a few drinks, and a lotta bodies all fueled with a love of fifties and sixties garage, party, hip shakin' tunes, and you got yourselves a real cool time.

In flac - Scans are included
Come On Now * Army Of One * Think About Me * Laughing Out Loud * Foggy Notion * Number One * Thief Of Baghdad * Don't Come Cryin' * Rack My Mind * Outcast * My Way * Shake
Boston's The Downbeat 5 have been around for nine years. Since founding members JJ Rassler and Jenn D'Angora both have careers in the music industry but not as musicians, only two studio albums have been released. Their third release, Smoke & Mirrors is an unedited recording from an in studio performance with 100+ since it was more practical then getting recording equipment into a bar. On Smoke & Mirrors, The Downbeat 5 not only succeed, but bring those garage rock songs into bar room glory. I seriously doubt if there's a better way to appreciate those songs. Also, The Downbeat 5 are essentially a live band. Although their two studio recordings, The Downbeat 5 and Victory Motel are great and have some real surprises like "Dum Dum Ditty" or The Shangri Las "Out In The Streets," the real power of this band is in their live performance. There aren't too many bands out there that can stand equal to them for a live show.

Hurriganes are a Finnish rock band that formed in the early 1970s. They were very popular in Finland in the 1970s and early '80s. Their classic line-up consisted of Remu Aaltonen, Albert Järvinen and Cisse Häkkinen. What seems like a misspelling in the name ("Hurriganes" with a "g") is intentional. Their style of music is very much of a roots rock'n'roll orientation. During their "classic" period, the band's output consisted largely of revved-up cover versions of well-known 1950s rock'n'roll songs in addition to their own original material. In this sense, Hurriganes can be viewed as Finland's answer to British pub rock performers of the 1970s like Dave Edmunds, Ducks DELUXE and Dr. Feelgood.

The album draws directly from the psychobilly punk style with songs like "Baby, You Ain't Looking Right?," "Good Behaviour," "Don't Hate Me Baby," and "Truckin'." Some might call it Stray Cats on acid or compare them to Reverend Horton Heat or The Cramps, but make no mistake, Powersolo has a sound all their own.

The Black Explosion - Servitors Of the Outer Gods
The Black Explosion's debut cd, "Servitors Of the Outer Gods", is out now on the german label Metalville. If you're a regular viewer of this blog you must know by now that The Black Explosion is the latest project of DOLLHOUSE mastermind and good friend of this blog, CHRIS WINTER.
This time around, Chris and the boys are wandering a more psychedelic, heavy blues trip and the songs are much closer to Blue Cheer, Cream and even Black Sabbath than to the MC5. Chris' unique voice is still blending together heavy guitar riffs and a pounding rhythm section.
Favorite track of yours truly is still the heavy organ driven "It's alright now" but "Black Fever" comes close.
Servitors Of the Outer Gods will also be released on vinyl soon and the band should start touring Europe in the spring of 2013.

SEVEN LONG YEARS - new digital 7"
The amazing SEVEN LONG YEARS just released a brand new digital 7". The vintage sounds of SEVEN LONG YEARS combine the harmonies and hooks of the British Invasion with the atmosphere of a west coast psychedelic band."See you cryin' '' is a psychedelic garage gem reminiscent of the 13th FLOOR ELEVATORS while "Tomorrow" is more like the BYRDS and LOVE all rolled in one. Brilliant jangle pop with guitars sparkling everywhere. Why these guys haven't been signed yet is totally beyond my understanding. Make yourself a favor: Go over to bandcamp and buy this little masterpiece.
