The Delta 72 - The Soul of a New Machine

The Delta 72 - The Soul of a New Machine

In Flac - covers are included

1. Introduction, Pt. 2 2. Monopoly of Your Mouth 3. Mainline, Pt. 4 4. Floorboard Shake 5. The Cut 6. Wiretapping 7. I've Dreamt of Leaving... 8. ...Ever Since You Told Me 9. Introduction, Pt. 2 10. It's Alright 11. Scratch/Up in the High Numbers/The Takedown/Blow Out/The Scope/Go ...

By 1997, Philadelphia's the Delta 72 had cemented themselves as leaders of the frantic R&B-based punk scene, gaining new fans across the world with their energetic live shows and the diverse sounds on their records. The disc begins with the sampled statement, "Ladies and gentlemen, it's star time!" That opening line of "Introduction, Pt. 2" gives way to Sarah Stolfa's soulful organ, chaotic guitar riffs, and Gregg Foreman's punchy vocals. Through songs like the funky "Floorboard Shake" and fuzzy stop-and-start atmosphere of "I've Dreamt of Leaving Ever Since You Told Me," the bandmembers made it clear that they were not hesitant to take chances. The blistering and bluesy "Scratch" is followed by the rollicking and frenetic "Up in the High Numbers." The pace often changes, like with the jaunty and sometimes low-key "Blow Out." The irony is evident on the blues-heavy and vibrant "We Hate the Blues." The album as a whole is dynamic and daring. It was recorded in March 1997 and released later that year on Chicago's Touch & Go Records.

The Forty-Fives _ Get It Together

The Forty-Fives _ Get It Together

@ 320 kbps - Covers are included

1 Get Out 2 Without Love 3 More Than Ever 4 Drive All Night 5 Undercover Man 6 Drinkin' With No. 3 7 King of Mexico 8 Get It Together 9 All Now 10 Anytime at All The Forty Fives 11 Ain't That Lovin' You The Forty Fives 12 Don't Wanna Be the One The Forty Fives 13 When You Least Expect It
The Forty Fives craft a garage rock sound that is similar to classic '60s bands like Creation. On Get It Together, they combine 13 of their rocking anthems together for one fun album. Bryan Malone has a great voice for this genre, filled with the type of grit and youthful anger that made their influences so wonderful. There is a lazy, Link Wray-style guitar that crawls over the moody title track that makes it the standout on the album, but the hard grit that carries songs like "Undercover Man" is mostly what their sound is about. This was posted a long time ago by my very good friend Curty Ray, but since the links are dead on his blog and i recently purchased this cd, i supposed you might like it to be posted here as well.

The Dead Boys - Younger, Louder & Snottier

The Dead Boys - Younger, Louder & Snottier
In Flac - covers are included
1. Sonic Reducer
2. All This and More
3. What Love Is
4. Not Anymore
5. Ain't Nothin' to Do
6. Caught With the Meat in Your Mouth
7. Hey Little Girl
8. I Need Lunch
9. High Tension Wire
10. Down in Flames

As others have mentioned, this is a terrific mix of the classic Young, Loud, and Snotty album. In particular, this mix gives you a better sense for the bands' twin guitar attack. On many of their songs, both guitar players (Cheetah Chrome and Jimmy Zero) played distinctive lead parts simultaneously. This was evident in their live shows. But on the Genya Ravan mix of YL&S, she usually favors one guitar with the other more buried. On this mix, you can really hear the interplay between the two guitar players. It also contains the full length version of "Ain't Nothing to Do" (with Stiv yelling "hey, Cheetah!") which was previously only available as a B-side of an old UK-only single. Highly recommended as a worthwhile companion to the original Genya mix.

The Riviera Playboys - Ambassadors of Rock-N-Roll

The Riviera Playboys - Ambassadors of Rock-N-Roll
In FLAC - Covers are included
Calling Rochester , New York their home, THE RIVIERA PLAYBOYS represent the epitome of a new breed of 60's garage rock'n'roll combos. The band that includes ex members of THE CHESTERFIELD KINGS, THE PROJECTILES, THE INSIDERS and SUSAN & THE SURFTONES delivers timeless music that has a powerfully menacing quality, and is best described in their own words as "raw, electrified r'n'r!". Driven by fuzz & reverb drenched guitars and wailin' organ sounds, all their songs got this distinctive primal approach, but the music still has this veritable melodic content and amazing vocal harmonies. If you can't get enough of all the "pebbles" and "nuggets" from the roaring 60's and you adore the early CHESTERFIELD KINGS and the
MAHARAJAS, you certainly don't wanna live without this masterpiece of the "ambassadors of rock'n'roll", the mighty RIVIERA PLAYBOYS!
