There are many Roky Erickson albums, but The Evil One originally released by CBS Records in Europe in 1980 was the first of them and, many would say the best. Every song is memorable, even from the first listen. From the unnerving opening riff of "Two Headed Dog" to the loud pleas of "Mine Mine Mind", this disc never bores. The guitar playing and backing band are superb and fit the material like a glove. The lyrics cover everything from Satan to zombies and are delivered with Roky's best vocal performance ever. And Roky sounds like he believes every word he sings.

Este disco refleja ese momento de inspiración que tienen pocos artistas para facturar un disco redondo. Pues en mi modesta opinión este es el caso. Con todos mis respetos a los puristas de los años 60, este disco es mejor que lo que hizo Roky Erickson con 13th Floor Elevators. Magistral.
