In June 2000 the Seattle Experience Music Project managed to put together a show which billed many now legendary '60s Northwest garage bands such as the Wailers and the Kingsmen. Still, they couldn't get what is probably the best of them all, THE SONICS, to reunite. So, Scott Mccaughey (Minus 5/Young Fresh Fellows/REM) started to get an all-star Sonics fans´ band together, so that they could perform at the show and represent the original and almighty Sonics. Boooom!! THE NEW STRYCHNINES were born.
And who could dare to play the songs of the wildest and greatest garage-punk band that ever existed? Well, my friend, they had to be real heavy-weights to face such a challenge. And they are !!! The New Strychnines are 75% of MUDHONEY (Mark Arm, Steve Turner, and Dan Peters), with Tom Price (from GAS HUFFER and MONKEYWRENCH), Big Kahuna (from GIRL TROUBLE), Scott McCaughey (from The YOUNG FRESH FELLOWS and The MINUS 5), and Craig Florey. It spells w-o-w... WOW!!!
As often happens the guys had a lot of fun playing together and kept practicing, playing more and more shows, sometimes billed as the Original Sonic Sound. But that´s not all folks, THE NEW STRYCHINES, as if they were on a "mission of God", went into the studio with McCaughey and KURT BLOCH (producer of Nashville Pussy, Supersuckers, Devil Dogs, Fastbacks...) and recorded a whole record of Sonics covers!

Love On Fire Listen 15. Heaven

'Frontier Days', the band s debut album, practically jumped off the turntable when first released in 1984. These guys showed that they could rock as hard as the meanest punk band of the day, but they also kept an ear towards the melody of the songs. With Kempner handling most of the songwriting duties as well as most of the lead vocals, Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel was able to let loose and show off some of the streamlined rock licks that he learned from his former boss. 'Frontier Days' is the picture of a band that is street-smart, hungry and ready to prove to the world that they are a force to be reckoned with...and a force they were! Trowser Press exclaimed 'the Del-Lords embrace rock s basic components with such skill and verve that they outshine most everyone else on the scene.' Rolling Stone gave the album 4 stars, while esteemed rock critic Robert Christgau graded the album an A- (his only complaint was that he didn t feel that LouWhitney s production was commercial enough to get the band well-deserved radio airplay). Almost inexplicably, 'Frontier Days' has never been released on CD until now. Songs include 'How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times And Live', 'I Play The Drums', 'Burning In The Flame Of Love', 'Get Tough' and the six other tunes on the original release. Also on this release are five never-before-heard bonus tracks and new liner notes from band member Scott Kempner. 'Frontier Days' is a definite must-have for any fan of gritty, honest and powerful rock & roll! http://sharebee.com/d709486a

If you want female fronted pop punk, then there's only one record label you should be interested in. Teenacide records in California specialise in music influenced by bands like the Runaways, the Go-Gos, Blondie and all points in between (with more than a touch of Helen Love thrown in for good measure). http://www.teenaciderecords.com/
MAKE A MOVE by The CHECKERS is incredibly catchy Californian pop punk played at a breakneck pace while singer Julie Vox sings semi-comprehensible lyrics over the top - like the bands above, but also sounding now and then like the Rezillos.

Moon Martin ia usually known for writting Robert Palmer's hit "Bad Case Of Loving You" and Willie "Mink" DeVille's "Cadillac Walk". Buy this CD and you can hear the original versions. Moon recorded four albums for Capitol Records in the late seventies /early eighties. This is a compilation of those four albums. Moon' albums always sound more like professional song demos than finished projects. At first you may think this sounds a little strange, but as time passes you realize that the simplicity of these arrangements make you really appreciate the great writting. There are no blazing guitar or keyboard solos-just simple songs with catchy lyrics and great melodies that you can't get out of your head.

Sean Tyla is yet another unjustly overlooked British singer-songwriter with a love for fifties/sixties rock/doo wop. Whether with Ducks Deluxe, The Tyla Gang or on his own, his everyman voice and his savvy choice of musicians gave each and every project he worked on a gritty, no-foolin' around feel. This is great rock and roll with its heart and soul in the right place. Key tracks include "Don't Mind Rockin' Tonite" and "Fireball". Motors fans may wish to check this one out, too, thanks to shared members. Honest, balls-to-the-walls rock that hasn't aged a bit! http://rapidshare.com/files/289257863/Ducks_Deluxe_-_Ducks_Deluxe__Taxi_to_the_Terminal_Zone__wav_.rar

The James Taylor Quartet are the band you play at your party when you want everyone to start frugging. It's that groovy '60s vibe, heavy on the Hammond B-3, getting funky on the theme from Blow Up, Mission Impossible, or Goldfinger--just like those albums your parents put on when folks used to gather in the rathskeller and twist the night away. It demands a sharp, three button suit, a skinny tie, and shined shoes for admission, then lets you dance and sweat through all the clothing. Be there or be square.

The combination of Wilko Johnson and Lee Brilleaux proved just too explosive for one band to contain and in 1977 Wilko set out to form his own band. He and keyboardist John Potter, the former fifth member of Dr Feelgood, recruited the new rhythm section of Steve Lewins and Alan Platt to form Wilko Johnson's Solid Senders. Limited copies of the original album release contained a bonus 12" 6-track EP recorded live during 1977 at an unspecified venue and these are included on the CD re-issue.The band thrived in a live situation and the audience thrilled to new versions of two Dr Feelgood originals written by Wilko, Walking On The Edge and the brilliant Paradise, plus some favoured oldies: Chuck Berry's All Aboard (sung by John Potter), Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited treated with gay abandon, Jimmy Hughes' Neighbour Neighbour and finally a rousing and lewd nod to BB on Rock Me Baby.

Get a load of the full on r'n'b of "Teenage Letter", the atmospheric half brother of take a heart that is "Baby" and the mind blowing "Pink, Purple, Yellow, Red" to name but a few. WILKO JOHNSON - LIVE IN JAPAN 2000

1. Slipping And Slidding 2. Take It Easy 3. She's Good Like That 4. Keep On Loving You 5. When I'm Gone 6. Cairo Blues 7. Beautiful Madrilena 8. Don't Let Your Daddy Know 9. Back In The Night 10. She Does It Right
His style formed the essential force behind Dr. Feelgood during their initial years, including the band's first four albums, Down by the Jetty, Malpractice, Stupidity and Sneakin' Suspicion, all released between 1975 and 1977. Wilco Johnson had a cult following amongst fans of the four-piece band, helped by some electrifying stage performance during their extensive UK and north European touring of that period. The live album, Stupidity, reached number one in the UK Albums Chart, but although Johnson played on Dr. Feelgood's first 5 single releases, including "Roxette" and "Back in the Night", the only single to chart during his membership of the band was "Sneakin' Suspicion ", whilst 5 of their 6 chart singles, notably the punk-tinged Top 10 single "Milk and Alcohol" were after he left. He left the band in April 1977, following disagreements over the tracks to be included in the Sneakin' Suspicion album.
In 1977, he was a founding member of the Solid Senders; with keyboardist John Potter, bassist Steve Lewins, and drummer Alan Platt. They signed to Virgin in 1978 and released the album, Solid Senders that year. The Wilko Johnson Band played at the 'Front Row Festival', a three-week event at the Hope and Anchor, Islington in late November and early December 1977, featuring many early punk rock acts.[7] This resulted in the inclusion of two tracks by The Wilko Johnson Band ("Dr. Feelgood" & Twenty Yards Behind"), on a hit double album of recordings from the festival. The Hope & Anchor Front Row Festival compilation album (March 1978) which reached number 28 in the UK Albums Chart[8] This live recording in 2000 is not his best stuff but whatever......the man deserves my eternal respect.

The creeps - enjoy The Creeps REUP

The creeps - enjoyThe Creeps REUP

@ 320 kbps - Covers are included

Down At The Nightclub. Ain't No Square. Come Back, Baby. Rattlesnake Shake. City Of People. Just What I Need. The Creep. Darling. Hi, Hi, Pretty Girl. Maintaining My Cool.I'm A Rolling Stone. She's Gone. Out Of My Mind. Magic Girl.

Ever since the release of the 1972 Nuggets: Original Artyfacts comp there have been bands like the Creeps, and most likely there always will be. The Swedish act aims squarely at mid-'60s garage rock, aping the bands that aped the Yardbirds, but thanks to inspired playing and inventive arrangements, they succeed in adding to the tradition rather than just running in place. Recorded with period-appropriate atmosphere (i.e. a thick, dirty echo), the Creeps bang out a couple of covers and nine originals that channel the Animals and Them, delivered with power and precision.
