Australian two-on-one reissue on Raven for the first two Jack Nitzsche produced albums, 1977's 'Cabretta' & 1978's 'Return To Magenta'. A great way to catch his two best early releases -- the stuff that won him lots of critical acclaim. So many musical influences here -- r&b, reggae, Brill Building pop. "Mixed Up, Shook Up Girl" has got to rank as one of the greatest least-known tunes ever put to record. Great attitude on both disks -- tough hood, sensitive lover, slick come-on man. Outstanding guitar playing by Louie X. Erlanger who defined DeVille's sound as importantly as the writing and singing. Not coincidental that his subsequent departure marked a lessening of the quality of DeVille's output. A great set. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NSAL8W9K
