Australian two-on-one reissue on Raven for the first two Jack Nitzsche produced albums, 1977's 'Cabretta' & 1978's 'Return To Magenta'. A great way to catch his two best early releases -- the stuff that won him lots of critical acclaim. So many musical influences here -- r&b, reggae, Brill Building pop. "Mixed Up, Shook Up Girl" has got to rank as one of the greatest least-known tunes ever put to record. Great attitude on both disks -- tough hood, sensitive lover, slick come-on man. Outstanding guitar playing by Louie X. Erlanger who defined DeVille's sound as importantly as the writing and singing. Not coincidental that his subsequent departure marked a lessening of the quality of DeVille's output. A great set. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NSAL8W9K

THE RIPPERS are from Sardinia and follow a long tradition of italian garage outfits in the past 20 years. Totally devoted to all the "no-hit wonders" from the sixties, they play an insane mixture of primitive garage-punk and ravin' rhythm'n'blues. Their main influence is the pure beat mayhem of bands like the PRETTY THINGS, DOWNLINER SECT, Q 65 and the MISSING LINKS and you can easily compare them to all those great eighties garage combos like the CRAWDADDYS, TELL TALE HEARTS and WYLDE MAMMOTHS. Be sure not to miss this record. It's a real blast. Prehistoric sounds from the caves of Italy. Yabba Dabba Dooh!!http://sharebee.com/6db44153

One of the most notorious Australian pub rock bands, the Cosmic Psychos officially began their journey together in 1985. Living by the rule of thumb that you should drink before you play a show because your friends might drink all of the beer, the Psychos gained a reputation for not caring about money so much as the free alcohol, laughs, and overseas traveling involved with being in a rock band. By 1989, Cosmic Psychos saw their second full-length album, Go the Hack, released in the United States on Sub-Pop Records. Prior to Go the Hack, Americans could only purchase Cosmic Psychos' albums as imports. The album saw its Australian release on Survival Records. — Stephen Howell , All Music Guide

New Yorkers Johnny Thunders, Ex- of the Heartbreakers and New York Dolls and Patti Palladin, Ex- of Snatch and a Former Brian Eno Collaborator, were Both Exiled in London. They Recorded this Affectionate Tribute to the American Songs of the 50’s and 60’s, with Covers of the Seeds, Screaming Jay Hawkins, the Shangri-la’s, Dion, Chambers Brothers, Roy Head, Elvis, the Shirelles, etc. Maybe this was as close as Thunders ever got to that New Orleans dream band he was finally ready to assemble on the eve of his death. Because here, in this cd, lies that swamp rock sound with a cherry on top and a smile on the side.

After the New York Dolls' breakup, guitarist Sylvain Sylvain remained with David Johansen for the next two years while forming a band called the Criminals, featuring keyboardist Bobby Blain, bassist Michael Page, and drummer Tony Machine. Sylvain finally chose his solo career over Johansen in 1979 with the formation of the Teenage News. Sylvain recorded a self-titled debut that year, which consisted of traditional, smoothed-out, highly melodic pop/rock with a variety of influences. Its 1981 follow-up was released under the name (and title) Syl Sylvain and the Teardrops, but like its predecessor, was a commercial failure, and Sylvain was dropped by RCA. He released an independent single in 1983 but has not been heard from since. In the late '90s, Sylvain Sylvain pulled together several releases that included Sleep Baby Doll (1998) and In Teenage News (2000) both on Fishhead. Paper Pencil & Glue was issued on Munster in fall 2000. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

The Blues Had A Baby And They Named It Rock'N'Roll
Throughout their entire career, Dr. Feelgood never left simple, hard-driving rock & roll behind, and their devotion to the blues and R&B earned them a devoted fan base.
The group's original distinctively British R&B sound was centered on Wilko Johnson's choppy guitar style. Along with Johnson, the original band line-up comprised John B. Sparks (bass guitar), John Martin aka The Big Figure (drummer) and Lee Brilleaux (vocals).
Like many pub rock acts, Dr. Feelgood were known primarily for their high energy live performances, although studio albums such as Down by the Jetty (1974) and Malpractice (1975) were also popular. Their breakthrough 1976 live album, Stupidity, reached number one in the UK Albums Chart (their only chart-topper). But after the follow-up Sneakin' Suspicion, Johnson left the group due to perceived conflicts with Brilleaux. Johnson was replaced by John "Gypie" Mayo. With Mayo, the band was never as popular as with Johnson, but still enjoyed their only Top Ten hit single in 1979, with "Milk and Alcohol". The tune was written by Gypie Mayo, with lyrics by band comrade Nick Lowe after witnessing bluesman John Lee Hooker in concert.

Things began to really pick up for ? and the mysterians when they played a song titled "96 Tears" at the local teen hot spot Mt. Holly. The group had originally called the song "69 Tears," but had decided to change its name to "96 Tears" due to concerns that if they recorded the number under the original title they could risk losing radio air play.
The song was eventually recorded at in Bay City, Michigan using a Farfisa and a Vox organ. There were 750 copies of the song pressed on their manager's Pa-Go-Go label. The song was played on some regional radio stations such as WTAC in Flint and CKLW in Detroit (which actually broadcast form Canada), and requests to play it again began to come in to the radio stations in large numbers. Seeing it's potential, Neil Bogart with the Cameo label approached the boys and a deal was struck to produce more pressings. The song quickly became a classic of its genre and a million seller. It reached No. 1 in the US and No. 37 in the UK.
The group enjoyed its brief status as one of the most popular rock-and-roll bands in America in 1966. They released their first full-length album, "96 Tears," on Cameo and in late 1966 they had their second single "I Need Somebody" enter the charts, where it peaked at number 22.

Truly one of the most gifted and talented singers in the 70's, Steve Marriott was a black man trapped in a white man's body. His soul was so deep in the ryhthm & blues that he not only wrote it, he sang it, continuously. Once onstage you hear a man possessed by the power of soul. Kicking this show off with the rocker "Up Your Sleeves" segueing into 4 Day Creep, Steve and Co. are in fine spirits. "C'mon Everybody" is just as powerful as the studio version and Humble Pie's version of "Honky Tonk Women" has got to give the Stones a run for their money. "

chris spedding - hurt

chris spedding - hurt

@ 320 kbps - Covers are included

1. Wild in the Street 2. Silver Bullet 3. Lone Rider 4. Woman Trouble 5. Ain't Superstitious 6. Wild Wild Women 7. Road Runner 8. Stay Dumb 9. Get Outa My Pagoda 10. Hurt by Love 11. Pogo Dancing 12. Pose 13. Gunfight 14. Evil

Spedding has a formidable resume as a session player, having appeared
on literally hundreds of sessions, ranging from his work with Brian
Ferry and John Cale to his mid-seventies appearance as one of the
Wombles! Having been part of the excellent but criminally overlooked
British band The Sharks in the early seventies, Spedding released a
fine trilogy of solo albums in the mid to late seventies -"Chris
Spedding", "Hurt" and "Guitar Graffiti". "Hurt" is the best of the
lot.
Featuring his own idiosyncratic, often humourous originals and
somewhat deadpan vocals, along with a well chosen cover or two, "Hurt"
sees Spedding trawl through a variety of styles - RnB, rock and roll,
countryish rock and his unique take on punk/new wave, the latter
typified by the irresistable "Get Outa My Pagoda", the bonus track
"Pogo Dancing" (a UK single)and the stunning title track. Throughout,
Spedding's guitar sparkles - he's a true original, his solos
inevitably spot on and concise. His playing at the conclusion of "Hurt
by Love" provides a great example of his style.
Spedding is still active today, and still recording high quality
records, but "Hurt" is Chris Spedding at his best.
This German re-issue features four bonus tracks, all of which sit
nicely with the original ten song album.

Taking a little from Kiss, Slade, Sweet, Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, etc., Crash Kelly stir their influences into a smooth confection of uptempo, guitar driven delight. Highlights include the title track, and the closer "16 On A Summer Night". Good rockin' for one and all! Thanx to Curty Ray!
