Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds produced two of the finest pop moments of the seventies-Lowe's "Jesus of Cool" album, the wonderful "Repeat When necessary" from Edmunds. Amazing style, wit, rhythym that led to everyone from Elvis Costello to The Stray Cats, offering songs, production postings, pleas for help. Not a track is wasted and ,like The Beatles at their "Revolver" heyday, it is a satisfying blend of two distinctive styles (with even a song from a third member thrown in - the wonderful Motown inspired "Heart"). Highs are Dave Edmunds performing a Chuck Berry cover that eclipses the original by some distance ("Oh, what a thrill") and the instantly addictive "Play that fast thing (one more time)".This CD has, in addition, the tracks from the EP issued with the Vinyl original. Four Everly Brothers tracks performed solely with Lowe and Edmunds on guitars and vocals. n.b : This will be my last DAVE EDMUNDS post.
