It opens with the roar of Long Neck Goose and singer Mitch Ryder returns to Detroit with the band named after his city. Detroit the group rocks with gritty R&B while Mitch howls with the best of them on this, their lone record released in 1971. Includes the classic underground hit version of Lou Reed's Rock n Roll, plus Is It You (Or Is It Me), Gimme Shelter and the slow blues of Drink. The group also featured guitarist Steve Hunter and was produced by Bob Ezrin. This is the MCA cd version.

Oh man, I"ve got this on vinyl and I"ve been looking for a re-issue for years. Great, great record. When I was growing up they used to play the opening instrumental section of Detroit's version of Lou Reed's "Rock and Roll" as the background music for radio commercials for the local drag racing–I can still hear it. thanks
