Screaching Weasel were the first band to cover a Ramones album in it's entirety. They recorded it in one 14 hour session in October of 1992. The band sticks closely to the original arrangements of the songs, but they play them faster. Some people might criticize them for not changing things up a little, but it works fine. The CD adds four bonus tracks recorded in June 1996, which were originally released as the Formula 27 EP. This is a fun punk album.

1. Soul Stripper2. Demoted 3. I Don't Want You To Love Me 4. Stray Doll 5. Double Crosser 6. Lady Strange 7. Doll Face Baby 8. Everything's Wrong 9. Crucify 10. Dummy Luv
Probably the best record the NEW YORK DOLLS never made and one of the finest records of 2008. You can never get tired of this. Pure rock'n'roll the way it should be. Get this RIGHT AWAY.
ps : Thanks to my good friend Curty Ray who made me discover this band in the first place !
I just received the following message :
This is Rick from Acetate Records, we out out the Prima Donna record - PLEASE DO NOT POST THE ENTIRE RECORD FOR DOWNLOAD! The band lives off they money they receive, so they can tour and make more records, you are stealing from the same bands you are promoting! As of today 100 people have downloaded the record for free!? That is money out of their pockets, and money out of our pocket - we fund the bands to make these records you hold so dearly - I love them, too - but you don;t have the right to giveaway what's not yours to give - I will gladly give you a track or two to use on your blog - but that's not cool, if you want bands to continue to create the music you like, don't take it from them - Rick Ballard Acetate Records
Obviously guys at record labels really do have time on their hands, spending hours to check blogs in search of "illegal" posts. I gladly oblige and delete the link but two days in a row, this is become boring!!!!!!!
And for the record, i do NOT agree with Rick. I believe that people still buy cds when they really like what they hear. That's exactly what i did: as soon as i heard it , i wanted to buy it and i did so on the day it came out. And Rick also forgets to mention that he gives away dozens of cds to radio stations, fucking rock critics or promoters , but of course, this is "legal". WHATEVER.
Got this comment from Vex voxtone. It shows i'm not the only one to believe that blogs participate in a well needed "try before you buy" policy: "Ok I can relate with the fact that bands live from the money they make from selling their records but let's be serious this blog and similar ones won't make em hobos or bums. This way I can get to know a band that I wasn't familiar with before and here where I live I sure can't buy their merchandise ... and the punchline is that if I like the band, I'll be the first one to buy the original disc or vinyl. Anyway I hope these last things won't disappoint you and that you won't shut down this blog because it means alot to many people."

Teenage Head with Marky Ramone

Teenage Head with Marky Ramone

@ 320 - covers are included

1. Top Down 2. Let's Shake 3. Tearin' Me Apart 4. Picture My Face 5. Some Kinda Fun 6. Lucy Potato 7. You're the One I'm Crazy For 8. Ain't Got No Sense 9. Little Boxes 10. Teenage Beer Drinkin' Party 11. First Time 12. Full Time Fool

The pairing of legendary drummer Marky Ramone with Teenage Head is just one of those things you dream could happen. The Canadian kings of party rock, over the course of seven albums Hamilton, Ontario's Teenage Head has been one of Canada's most popular rock bands. Their influence on popular music is easy to see; bands such as the Headstones, Tragically Hip and the Sadies have all openly admitted their admiration for the legendary band.

Consider this as a small tribute to Frankie Venom who passed away last week at the age of 51.

Obviously the nice people at Sonic Unyon Records did not appreciate my little tribute to Frankie and consider only the financial/business side of things. They very politely asked me to remove the link so, in Frankie's memory, i will oblige... too bad for those of you who were not fast enough.

I will not reup more that those 3 last posts. For all the rest, there were plenty of downloads. So for those who were not fast enough, post your requests here and prey for a good soul to reup it on another hoster but i have not the time or the energy to reup all the previous posts since most of them have already been deleted from my HD.

All Night Soul Stomp_ Dancefloor Boogaloo Romp

All Night Soul Stomp_ Dancefloor Boogaloo Romp

@ 320 - covers are included

1. Quittin' Time 2. You Better Check Yourself 3. R&B Time 4. Mish Mash Soul 5. Goin' Back to Philly 6. Trip 7. Funny Walk 8. Funky Broadway '69 9. Real Real Love 10. Brand New Recipe 11. Hang It Up 12. New York City Baby 13. (Git Your) Backfield in Motion 14. Everybody's Goin' Wild 15. Standing on a Corner 16. Get On Board 17. It Ain't Watcha Do 18. One More Hurt 19. Mumble Shig-A-Lingy 20. Hip Huggin' Mini! 21. Soul Affection 22. They Don't Know 23. Boogaloo #3 24. Hot Buns
A collection of rare, hard to find 1960s soul 45s, All Night Soul Stomp! breaks out of the speakers like a big truck hitting all the gears on a straightaway, then never lets up through 24 tracks of solid, hard-hitting soul that makes Sam & Dave sound calculating. Nothing is very polished here, but these sides explode on a kind of ragged, loose energy that is the very definition of hard soul. There is so much to like here, including "You Better Check Yourself" by Soul Brothers Six, "Mish Mash Soul" by the Combo Kings, the rushing, double-timed "New York City Baby" by Billy Hambrick, the atmospheric "One More Hurt" by Phil Flowers, and the loose-as-a-goose (complete with a honking alto sax) "Boogaloo #3" by Roy Lee Johnson. The energy never lets up, making this a wonderful addition to anyone's soul library. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide

Brownsville Station - School Punks

Brownsville Station - School Punks

@ 320 - covers are included
1. Kings Of The Party 2. Mama Don't Allow No Parkin' 3. Meet Me On The Fourth Floor 4. Fast Phyliss 5. I Get So Excited 6. Ostrich 7. I Got It Bad For You 8. Hey Little Girl 9. I Got Love If You Want It/I'm A King Bee 10. I'm The Leader Of The Gang
Brownsville Station followed up their mammoth proto-punk hit "Smoking In The Boy's Room" with this slice of power-trio garage rock, and it solidified their reputation as a party band.
Originally released in 1974, this album also has two BS classics...the band's statement of purpose "Kings Of The Party" (a minor chart hit) and the continuation of great cover choices with "I'm The Leader Of The Gang" by glam rock king Gary Glitter.
That mix was between hard-rocking ("Kings Of The Party") and loving old 50's style rock (the medley of "I've Got Love If You Want It/I'm A King Bee") that predated The Ramones by a couple of years. Even though Brownsville's style of rock was closer to Foghat or J.Geils than the coming surge of punk to come, there is no denying that Cub Koda and the boys had an influence on garage rockers everywhere, and "School Punks" is probably their most consistent album.

Fronted by Jesse Hector and emerging from Crushed Butler, this is the Gorilla's only album... and you've got to love a band that looks soooo good; grown out Small Faces haircuts and insane outta control sideburns... not to mention Jesse's Rupert Bear yellow tartan Oxford bags in his classic mid-seventies style period.... and music that at its best is brutal post-mod glam stomping... check "New York Groover" on this : a tune which is every bit as good as their outstanding Chiswick Records singles "She's My Gal" and "Gatecrasher". This band should have been huge either on the basis of their looks or their music, or both, toss a coin and decide which...

This collection is subtitled "Raw Funk of '67-69!" and it lives up to that billing, with 22 hard-hitting funk tracks from artists who will be unknown to all but hardcore funksters. Well, maybe Andre Williams will be familiar to some, but that's it. This is funk with a pretty rippling and fast-tempoed guitar, horn and rhythm section, along the lines of the late-1960s James Brown band (as heard on both vocal and instrumental recordings) in particular, and also in the vein of less famous outfits like Dyke & the Blazers. It would be a great party disc for those who want to simultaneously get the guests dancing and impress all record collector friends in the room. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide

The Groovie Ghoulies were an American punk rock band formed in Sacramento, California. They released numerous albums, EPs, and singles, and toured internationally. Their music was generally structured around monster, horror, and science fiction themes.
Though the group's lineup fluctuated significantly throughout their career, bassist/vocalist Kepi remained a constant fixture.
After Groovie Ghoulies disbanded in 2007, he immediately formed Kepi: The Band, and has since proved that he can still crank out hummable tunes. "Hanging Out" features churning, power-chord-driven rock of the sort familiar to Groovie Ghoulies fans.

Part blaxploitation soundtrack and part stag record, Shaftman: Introducing a Bad Mutha intersperses funk tunes with the risque tale of John Shaftman, a private dick hired to spy on his client's cheating wife. The Hound Dog Clowns' "Superfox," Gruntin' Groover's "Groovy Gruntin'," and the Pazant Brothers' "Toe Jam" are among the songs that help make Shaftman: Introducing a Bad Mutha a funky, as well as funny, album. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide

Les Hell On Heels

Les Hell On Heels

1. My Kind Of Trouble 2. Got What You Need 3. Hell On Heels 4. He's Alright 5. Ain't So Cool 6. Said & Done 7. Real Thing 8. Broke Down Love 9. Waste Of Time 10. Pretender 11. Snake Eyes
Paula Monarch's vocals are equally snotty pop-punk (Nikki Corvette, Paula Pierce, NY Dolls, etc.) and kittenishly seductive. The band delivers their sonic punch with a rock solid rhythm section and ferocious electric guitars - something like what the Runaways might have sounded like if they'd begun (rather than evolved into being) Joan Jett's backing band.
The band writes their own material (save for a cover of Jeff Dahl's "Ain't So Cool"), and it's filled with memorable musical hooks and lyrics about their kind of trouble (namely, bad boys) and plenty of kiss-and-tell offs. This album rocks hard! NEW LINK
