Ever since the release of the 1972 Nuggets: Original Artyfacts comp there have been bands like the Creeps, and most likely there always will be. The Swedish act aims squarely at mid-'60s garage rock, aping the bands that aped the Yardbirds, but thanks to inspired playing and inventive arrangements, they succeed in adding to the tradition rather than just running in place. Recorded with period-appropriate atmosphere (i.e. a thick, dirty echo), the Creeps bang out a couple of covers and nine originals that channel the Animals and Them, delivered with power and precision.

These guys were brilliant and this gotta be the cornerstone garage revival album ... not so heavily on fuzz guitars but definitely influenced by sixties british r&b ... their trademark was powerful Robert Jelinek's vocal and Hans Ingemansson's hammond organ both from influential swedish garage band Backdoor men ... unfortunately they did some compromises with changing the course of their music, and finally they ended as a poor RHCP copy ... still we have this excellent gem to remeber how great they were once.

Mary Shelley Overdrive has a new EP available for FREE download. It's a collection of cover songs recorded during practice sessions, rehearsals, etc. during the recording of our (as yet untitled) LP.

Included on the album are covers of songs by Blue Oyster Cult, Antiseen, Black Flag, Devo, Bo Diddley, The White Stripes and The Vaselines, as well as an interpretation of the '60s Batman theme. No money should change hands for this album. Feel free to post it on your blog or share it however you choose.
